Original Note:
A U.S. President cannot serve a third term, even if the terms are non-consecutive. The 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states that no person can be elected to the presidency more than twice. This applies regardless of whether the terms are consecutive or not. https://constitution.congress.gov/constitution/amendment-22/ https://constitutioncenter.org/the-constitution/amendments/amendment-xxii
