Original Note:
There’s been no storage added since ~1975 when the population was 50% today’s. These fires are a known risk. Unpredictable, but certain. Infrastructure wasn’t redundant & resilient. Reservoirs were recently replenished, but they weren’t capable of moving it. https://insideclimatenews.org/news/16092024/california-underground-water-storage/ https://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-ca-skelton-california-water-bond-money-20180212-story.html https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2025-01-08/lack-of-water-from-hydrants-in-palisades-fire-is-hampering-firefighters-caruso-says https://www.ppic.org/publication/californias-water-grid/ https://search.brave.com/search?q=califoria+has+not+added+surface+water+storage+capacity+since+1970s&source=ios&summary=1&conversation=de3b92b50be4ec1fb89272
