Original Note:

"Saka" & "Shakya" are distinct groups. The Sakas were a tribe from the region between the Caspian and Aral Seas, while the Shakyas were a self-governing clan in the Kosala Kingdom along the Sarayu River. The Witzel-Beckwith theory linking them has been debunked. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shakya en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saka https://www.jstor.org/stable/26529863
