Original Note:
Exoneration occurs when a convicted person is officially cleared after new evidence of innocence becomes available. While prosecutors declined to bring charges against Gaetz for having sex with underage girls, he was never "fully exonerated," i.e. declared innocent. https://www.law.umich.edu/special/exoneration/Pages/glossary.aspx#:~:text=In%20general%2C%20an%20exoneration%20occurs,evidence%20of%20innocence%20becomes%20available.
