Original Note:
Several Supreme Court cases such as the 2008 "Heller case" have decided that firearms regularly referred to as "Assault Weapons" are protected as they are considered in common use. Also in the "Bruen" case in 2022 it is further defined. These were not in place in 1994. https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution-conan/amendment-2/the-heller-decision-and-individual-right-to-firearms https://www.scotusblog.com/case-files/cases/new-york-state-rifle-pistol-association-inc-v-bruen/
