Original Note:
Fallstreak holes, or hole-punch clouds, form when supercooled droplets freeze from a pressure drop (passing aircraft) or nuclei, creating ice crystals. The crystals then grow larger until they precipitate out and evaporate in dry air below causing a hole and virga streaks. https://earthsky.org/earth/hole-punch-clouds-aka-fallstreak-holes-made-by-jets/ https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/152486/making-sense-of-holes-in-the-clouds https://www.nesdis.noaa.gov/fallstreak-clouds
