On NOAA’s space weather scale it shows at what latitudes how often aurora can be expected per solar cycle. We briefly reached KP 9 or G5 conditions during the last solar storm. We can see on the scale aurora are expected to be visible southern states 4 times per cycle (11 yrs) https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/noaa-scales-explanation
