Although there is a religious exemption in UK law to the requirement that animals are pre-stunned before slaughter, not all halal certifying bodies reject pre-stunning. In fact, around 65% of animals slaughtered in the UK for Halal are stunned first. https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/farm/slaughter/religiousslaughter
