Israel was attacked by Hizbollah unprovoked after October 7 attack by Hamas. It keeps attacking Israel ever since. According to article 51 of the UN charter, a country has the right to protect itself when attacked, so it seems that international law wasn’t broken in this case https://www.un.org/en/about-us/un-charter/full-text
