Original Note:

Alina Chan is confusing the MRCA (most recent common ancestor) with the first infection in humans. Pekar (2022) argues the MRCA of A and B predates the first infection in humans and that the first infection was lineage B. Crits-Christoph (2024) does not contradict any of this. https://x.com/flodebarre/status/1836928689130389705
