Original Note:

The US spends around 3% of GDP on its military, which is historically low. Military spending was much higher in the Cold War, when the U.S. highway interstate system was built. Healthcare and entitlements are by far the biggest Fed Govt Expenses. https://www.defense.gov/Multimedia/Photos/igphoto/2002099941/ https://fiscaldata.treasury.gov/americas-finance-guide/federal-spending/
