Original Note:

Trees are *not* "incredibly destructive" to archaeological sites. Roots go around masonry and provide a matrix for soil to adhere to, preventing erosion. With several feet of soil above the archaeology, olive trees have shallow root systems only 6-25 inches. https://www.forestresearch.gov.uk/tools-and-resources/fthr/historic-environment-resources/woodland-and-archaeology/tree-roots/ https://www.weekand.com/home-garden/article/olive-tree-root-systems-18045514.php
