The “ban” on NEW petrol and diesel cars is a Conservative Policy. It was announced in 2020 and would start in 2030: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-takes-historic-step-towards-net-zero-with-end-of-sale-of-new-petrol-and-diesel-cars-by-2030 The Conservatives then announced it would be 2035 and passed it into law; https://www.gov.uk/government/news/pathway-for-zero-emission-vehicle-transition-by-2035-becomes-law The Labour Party have simply announced they’ll continue a conservative policy.
