Original Note:

Semiauto rifles commonly called "assault weapons" have never been banned. The 1994 AWB only banned combinations of cosmetic features on these rifles, such as bayonet lugs and folding stocks. The rifles themselves were always available, and sales during the ban skyrocketed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Assault_Weapons_Ban#/media/File:1990-_AR-15_production_as_percentage_of_guns_produced_in_US.svg https://www.nssf.org/articles/commonly-owned-nssf-announces-over-24-million-msrs-in-circulation/
