Original Note:

The 1932 German presidential election was a landslide victory for the incumbent, Paul von Hindenburg, who defeated Adolf Hitler and Ernst Thälmann with a simple majority, and a margin of more than 16% of the vote. Hindenburg appointed Hitler as chancellor of Germany anyway. https://norman.hrc.utexas.edu/fasearch/findingAid.cfm?eadid=01074 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1932_German_presidential_election
