The 2015 study that was the source of this claim was retracted shortly after publication: https://retractionwatch.com/2015/07/21/to-our-horror-widely-reported-study-suggesting-divorce-is-more-likely-when-wives-fall-ill-gets-axed/ From the authors' retraction note, "There was a major error in the coding in their dependent variable of marital status. The conclusions of that paper should be considered invalid."
