Original Note:
The statement "can't even choose their president anymore" is misleading. The Ukrainian Constitution doesn't allow for elections to be held under martial law, which was introduced due to Russia's full scale invasion. Elections can only be held when the war ends. https://indianexpress.com/article/world/can-ukraines-zelenskyy-stay-in-power-without-an-election-9340384/ https://www.dw.com/en/can-ukraines-zelenskyy-stay-in-power-without-an-election/a-68789736 https://www.oporaua.org/en/vybory/legal-information-on-the-impossibility-of-holding-elections-under-conditions-of-martial-law-24947
