Magnetic pole reversals are not “highly correlated with mass extinction events”. Pole reversals occur every million years or so while mass extinctions occur every 100 million years or more. https://www.usgs.gov/faqs/do-any-mass-extinctions-correlate-magnetic-reversals#:~:text=It's%20not%20clear%20whether%20a,hundred%20million%20years%20or%20so.
