Original Note:

NNN "Ninja" swords counts as an offensive weapon, but at <50cm (wikipedia says 46-48) they can currently be bought, owned or even carried with a lawful excuse. Longer swords, are banned outright (like flick and butterfly knives) Prison overcrowding is a separate issue. https://news.npcc.police.uk/releases/offensive-weapons-act-2019-bans-the-possession-of-dangerous-items-in-private https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninjat%C5%8D https://www.gov.uk/buying-carrying-knives
