Original Note:

A broken contrail, where the trail appears to stop & start again, can occur when a plane ascends or descends through layers of the atmosphere with different humidity levels. If a plane passes through a drier layer, the contrail may temporarily disappear. https://contrailscience.com/broken-contrails/ https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-do-jets-leave-a-white/ https://airplaneacademy.com/why-do-some-airplanes-leave-contrails-and-others-dont/ https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20220823-what-makes-up-a-planes-contrails
