Original Note:

This is a contrail, they are trails of condensed water vapour created by jet engines. The shadowing is completely normal, Contrail shadows are formed when the contrail crosses in front of the sun, blocking its light and casting a shadow on the cloud layer beneath. https://atoptics.co.uk/blog/contrail-shadows-2/#:~:text=Contrail%20shadows%20are%20a%20fascinating,for%20observers%20on%20the%20ground.
