Original Note:

The width and length of contrails depends on atmospheric conditions present when the jet passes through. Long narrow contrails are “non-spreading persistent contrails” that require a humid/damp atmosphere. This type of contrail can be visible for up to an hour.  https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-do-jets-leave-a-white/ https://www.spartan.edu/news/trails-in-the-sky-all-about-contrails/ https://www.space.com/what-are-contrails
