Original Note:
This is only partly true. Pigeons are descended from Rock Doves which nest on cliffs, an environment cities replicate. Cities also offer an abundance of food. While they are tame due to crossbreeding with domesticated doves, they also used to be a source of food to humans. https://a-z-animals.com/articles/where-do-pigeons-come-from-and-why-are-there-so-many-in-big-cities/ https://www.theguardian.com/notesandqueries/query/0,,-69324,00.html#:~:text=Pigeons%20(Rock%20Doves)%20adapt%20well,be%20much%20smaller%20of%20course.
