Original Note:
I searched for the definition of bloodbath a few days ago and Dictionary.com was the top hit. Tried again today and the top hit changed to the Oxford definition which happens to omit: "2. Informal. a period of disastrous loss or reversal..." The original post is correct. https://www.google.com/search?q=bloodbath+definition&rlz=%201C1GCEA_enUS1064US1064&oq=bl&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBggAEEUYOzIGCAAQRRg7MgYIARBFGDkyCggCEC4YsQMYgAQyCggDEC4Y1AIYgAQyCggEEC4Y1AIYgAQyDQgFEAAYgwEYsQMYgAQyCggGEAAYsQMYgAQyBwgHEAAYgAQyBwgIEAAYjwIyBwgJEAAYjwLSAQk0OTc3ajBqMTWoAgCwAgA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
