This is incorrect. The main dish which the video skipped over does not need any water added. The only part of the MRE that needs water added is the vanilla drink mix. https://www.dla.mil/Troop-Support/Subsistence/Operational-rations/mre/ The dish can be eaten cold or heated in many other ways - the MRE heater can also work with unclean water.
