Original Note:
The earliest recorded instance of "rest in power" was an internet post in 2000 for Mike "Dream" Francisco, a Filipino graffiti artist. One of its first uses in print was in 2003 to eulogize Rachel Corrie, a white pro-Palestinian activist killed in Gaza. https://slate.com/culture/2019/09/rest-in-power-phrase-history-appropriation-black-activists.html https://www.kqed.org/arts/10141391/dream-but-dont-sleep-remembering-mike-dream-francisco https://inthesetimes.com/article/remember-rachel-corrie https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rest_in_power
