Original Note:
They are rocks. Specifically, Elephant Rock is a basaltic rock formation that formed during an eruption of Mt. Eldfell, with a unique appearance due to the columnar joints it is made from. The fact that it looks like an elephant is nothing more than coincidence. https://guidetoiceland.is/travel-iceland/drive/elephant-rock https://visitwestmanislands.com/geology/ https://www.nps.gov/subjects/volcanoes/columnar-jointing.htm
