Original Note:

Air pressure is not uniform throughout the atmosphere. The lower the altitude, the higher the air pressure. At the upper limits of the atmosphere, air pressure reduces to nil. Gravity pulls on the atmosphere, compressing it, and creating pressure. https://www.forbes.com/sites/quora/2017/05/16/why-doesnt-the-vacuum-of-space-suck-up-earths-atmosphere/
