Original Note:
Bacillus cereus can and does cause food poisoning, including from reheated rice. However, symptoms are typically mild and hospitalization is extremely rare. Out of an estimated 64,000 annual cases in the US, the CDC estimates only 20 lead to hospitalization. https://www.nifa.usda.gov/sites/default/files/resource/Preventing-Foodborne-Illness-Bacillus-cereus.pdf https://www.cdc.gov/foodborneburden/PDFs/pathogens-complete-list-01-12.pdf https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/17/1/P1-1101_article https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3375761/
