The post is correct, although the buying power of one dollar in 1938 was significantly higher than it is today. $1 in 1938 would be equivalent to roughly $21.60 in today's dollars, taking into account CPI / inflation. https://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm Regardless, E.G. houses have still increased ~10x in price
