Indian/Native American removal became US government policy when the Indian Removal Act was enacted in 1830 under Andrew Jackson. From 1830 to the 1850s, 60K members of different nations were forcibly removed to Oklahoma, with thousands dying on the Trail of Tears. https://history.state.gov/milestones/1830-1860/indian-treaties https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Removal_Act https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trail_of_Tears https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/aia/part4/4p2959.html
