Original Note:

Australia Day wasn't a real thing until 1935, it was supposed to be commemorating the arrival of the First Fleet which didn't land until 13 May 1788. Didn't become a public holiday until 1994, which is what most people see what Australia Day is all about. https://www.nla.gov.au/digital-classroom/year-3/time-and-place/themes/australia-day https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/first-fleet-sets-sail-australia/
