This post is incorrect. Atmospheric CO2 has nearly doubled from 280 ppm in the 1700s to 420 ppm today. It is well understood that the increase is from the use of fossil fuels and, CO2 being a potent greenhouse gas, is responsible for the concurrent rise in global temperature. http://www.climate.gov/news-features/understanding-climate/climate-change-atmospheric-carbon-dioxide
