This chart is highly misleading. CBP started tracking ‘encounters’ (apprehensions+repulsions) since 2020. It is unclear what numbers were used for the graph prior to 2020, but it is likely the jump in the data stems from that rather than the misleading Trump/Biden annotation. https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/stats/nationwide-encounters
