The Arabs were in fact considered colonizers by the Berbers, The Berbers had multiple revolts against the Arabs, which culminated in multiple deadly battles: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berber_Revolt The Revolts ended with the Berbers driving out the Arabs to the borders of Ifriqiya (modern day Tunisia).
