Original Note:
If electric vehicles are charged by electricity generated by fossil fuels, then they are no better for the environment than petroleum vehicles. Currently New Zealand is heavily reliant on fossil fuels, whilst only small percentages come from hydro, solar and wind. https://climate.mit.edu/ask-mit/are-electric-vehicles-definitely-better-climate-gas-powered-cars#:~:text=This%20intensive%20battery%20manufacturing%20means,a%20comparable%20gas%2Dpowered%20car.&text=But%20just%20like%20with%20gasoline,roll%20off%20the%20production%20floor. https://ourworldindata.org/energy/country/new-zealand
