Original Note:
The copyrights to MLK’s speeches are still owned by his estate, AKA his children, who regularly refuse directors’ requests to use them. In 2009, Spielberg acquired the rights to use those speeches in a movie, but the King family still holds the original copyrights. https://www.vice.com/en/article/evgn4j/the-bizarre-reason-you-rarely-hear-martin-luther-king-quotes-in-movies https://www.forbes.com/sites/legalentertainment/2023/10/11/a-dream-comes-true-chris-rock-steven-spielberg-and-universal-pictures-to-create-a-martin-luther-king-jr-biopic/?sh=7919d7e21f35
