Original Note:

This is actually true. The reason that crumple zones exist in cars is to increase the time of collision, therefore reducing the force inflicted on the passengers. A short crumple zone will transfer more of the force into the passengers. It’s basic physics. https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/technology/car-safety/crumple-zones.html https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crumple_zone https://auto.howstuffworks.com/car-driving-safety/safety-regulatory-devices/crumple-zone.htm
