While plants indeed absorb CO2 while growing, they also emit the same amount of CO2 they absorbed when rotting. So even if plants could absorb as much CO2 as humans emit (which is not feasibly possible), it's not a long term solution and CO2 is in fact a pollutant. https://climate.mit.edu/ask-mit/how-many-new-trees-would-we-need-offset-our-carbon-emissions
