Cette attaque a eu lieue dans la ville de Lod, ville mixte où cohabitent juifs et arabes israéliens. Elle intervient sur fond de hausse de la criminalité mafieuse dans les communautés arabes. Deux suspects d'origine bédouine ont été arrêtés suite à ce meurtre.
