While the map of nitrate concentrations around NZ is accurate, the colour scales used are misleading. The Ministry of Health states that water with Nitrate levels below 50mg/L is safe to drink https://www.health.govt.nz/your-health/healthy-living/drinking-water/nitrate-drinking-water The Greenpeace map begins listing sites as dangerous below 9mg/L (or 2mg/L NO3-N)
