Original Note:

Shakshuka, falafel, knafeh and hummus are predominantly eaten by Arab communities for hundred of years. In fact, hummus (حمص) is the Arabic word for chickpeas. While Israelis are welcomed to enjoy the dishes, they are not entitled to make any claim on those food. https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/culture/2017-05-13/ty-article/why-are-israeli-jews-obsessed-with-hummus/0000017f-f0cf-d223-a97f-fddf59b80000 https://farahwritesstuff.medium.com/from-tahini-to-sabra-to-sweet-potato-the-appropriation-of-hummus-in-israel-and-the-united-states-339f263b174b
