Original Note:

Water vapour, a potent GHG, leaves the atmosphere very quickly (days) as rain or snow. CO2 is the main GHG because of its longevity in the atmosphere (decades to millenias). Without CO2, there would be very little water vapour and the Earth would just be a snowball. https://climate.nasa.gov/explore/ask-nasa-climate/3143/steamy-relationships-how-atmospheric-water-vapor-amplifies-earths-greenhouse-effect/
