This is fundamentally incorrect. Lossy formats lose quality when they are encoded (a video file is made), but no files lose quality by simply sitting on a storage medium of any kind. Data corruption can occur from a device malfunction, but this is unrelated to lossy encoding. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lossy_compression
