Original Note:
Not all smoke projectiles are white phosphorous. A far more common smoke device used both on the ground and as a projectile is Hexachloroethane (projectile ejects smoke canisters). Appearances are similar and is commonly claimed by the untrained eye to be white phosphorous. https://man.fas.org/dod-101/sys/land/smoke.htm https://wwwn.cdc.gov/TSP/ToxFAQs/ToxFAQsDetails.aspx?faqid=869&toxid=169
