Original Note:
The Spanish flag in 1492 was a combination of emblems of Spain's kingdoms of Castile and León. The shown flag is in use since 1981 Columbus landed on the island of San Salvador, but never set foot upon mainland North America. Ponce de Leon was the first Spaniard to do so https://www.prd.uscourts.gov/christopher-columbus-expeditionary-banner-la-capitana#:~:text=When%20Christopher%20Columbus%20reached%20the,captains%20and%20this%20expeditionary%20banner. https://www.hpsd.k12.pa.us/archives/clausen/flags/colonial/C2.htm#:~:text=Circa%3A%201492%20A.D.,with%20gold%20castles%20and%20lions.&text=The%20earliest%20Spanish%20flag%20was,and%20the%20grey%20represents%20Leon.
