Original Note:
Picnic has nothing to do with race. From the French "piquenique" (1690s), perhaps a reduplication of piquer "to pick, peck," from Old French. A term used to describe a social gathering in which attendees each contributed with a portion of food or another useful item https://www.etymonline.com/word/picnic https://www.historytoday.com/archive/historians-cookbook/history-picnic https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-picnic-origin-lynchings-idUSKCN24E21V https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/picnic-origin/
