Original Note:

A common rule of thumb for a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative growth in real GDP (Gross Domestic Product). This happened in early 2022 but NBER did not declare this a recession. Debate of "common rule of thumb" -vs- "official governance" belongs in replies. https://www.dallasfed.org/research/economics/2022/0802
