Original Note:
The swastika was a common symbol across numerous cultures over thousands of years, appearing as recently as all over commercial goods and even sports teams in the pre-Nazi 1900s. The Nazis simply picked it because it was a well known symbol with positive connotations. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika#Etymology_and_nomenclature https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windsor_Swastikas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_use_of_the_swastika_in_the_early_20th_century https://www.worldscoutingmuseum.org/swastikas.shtml
