US support of Ukraine does not quite meet the academic definition of a proxy war. If it did, the US supporting Russia under Lend-Lease in WWII would also be a proxy war. Instead, Russia's undeclared 2014 war on Ukraine in Donbas using Russian weapons & troops was a proxy war. https://www.kcl.ac.uk/is-the-war-in-ukraine-a-proxy-conflict
